1.Top Gun: Maverick

The most successful film of 2022 so far is Top Gun: Maverick. Released on the 27th May, the action film has sold over 68 million tickets and taken over $1.2 billion. Amassing a massive $126 million in its opening weekend, Top Gun: Maverick has taken over $618 million domestically and over $620 million internationally.
Starring Tom Cruise and Miles Teller, the film continues on from its prequel Top Gun which was released in 1986.
Synopsis:
After more than 30 years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. Training a detachment of graduates for a special assignment, Maverick must confront the ghosts of his past and his deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who choose to fly it.
2. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Released on 6th May 2022, the Walt Disney action film has sold almost 45 million tickets and grossed over $954 million so far. Taking $187 million in its opening weekend, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has since taken over $411 million domestically and over $543 million internationally.
The $200 million budget film stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen alongside a star studded cast.
Synopsis:
Doctor Strange teams up with a mysterious teenage girl from his dreams who can travel across multiverses, to battle multiple threats, including other-universe versions of himself, which threaten to wipe out millions across the multiverse.

3.Jurassic World: Dominion
Released on 10th June 2022, the Universal action film has sold just under 40 million tickets and grossed upwards of $900 million so far. Earning $145 million in its opening weekend, Jurassic World: Dominion has since taken just shy of $360 million domestically and $543 million internationally. Bumping it up into third place, overtaking The Batman.
Chris Pratt returns in the 6th Jurassic Park franchise, directed by Colin Trevorrow.
Four years after the destruction of Isla Nublar, dinosaurs now live and hunt alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history’s most fearsome creatures.

4.The Batman
Released on 4th March 2022, the Warner Bros. action film sold just over 40 million tickets and took almost $770 million in revenue. The Batman earnt $134 million in its opening weekend and has since earnt over $369 million domestically and $401 million internationally.
Starring Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz, the film was produced by Dylan Clark and Matt Reeves with a budget of $180-200 million.
Batman ventures into Gotham City’s underworld when a sadistic killer leaves behind a trail of cryptic clues. As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans become clear, he must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued the metropolis.

5.Minions: The Rise of Gru
Released this month, on 1st July 2022, the Universal comedy film has so far sold over 30 million tickers and is grossing at over $534 million. Taking in $107 million in it’s opening weekend, Minions: The Rise of Gru has also taken over $263 million domestically and $270 million internationally.
The sixth release within the Minions franchise, Steve Carell heads up the voice of Felonious Gru.
In the 1970s, young Gru tries to join a group of supervillains called the Vicious 6 after they oust their leader — the legendary fighter Wild Knuckles. When the interview turns disastrous, Gru and his Minions go on the run with the Vicious 6 hot on their tails. Luckily, he finds an unlikely source for guidance — Wild Knuckles himself — and soon discovers that even bad guys need a little help from their friends.
